Voice input lets you describe simulations by speaking instead of typing. It is especially useful when explaining complex geometry or boundary conditions where dictation is faster than writing.
How it works
Click the microphone button
The microphone icon is located in the chat input bar, next to the send button. Click it to begin recording.
Speak your request
Describe your simulation, ask a question, or give instructions. Speak naturally -- the transcription model handles pauses, technical terminology, and engineering jargon well.
Review the transcription
When you stop speaking (or click the stop button), the audio is sent to the transcription service. The transcribed text appears in the chat input field so you can review and edit it before sending.
Send your message
Press Enter or click Send to submit the transcribed text. The AI processes it exactly like a typed message.
Transcription model
Voice input uses OpenAI gpt-4o-mini-transcribe for speech-to-text conversion. This model provides:
- High accuracy for technical and scientific vocabulary
- Support for multiple languages and accents
- Fast turnaround -- transcriptions typically return within a few seconds
Limits
| Parameter | Value |
|---|
| Maximum audio size | 25 MB per recording |
Tips for best results
- Speak clearly and at a natural pace. You do not need to slow down excessively.
- Use specific numbers and units -- say "ten meters per second" rather than "fast". The model transcribes numbers accurately.
- Spell out ambiguous terms if needed -- for example, "NACA zero-zero-one-two" for the NACA 0012 airfoil.
- Review before sending -- the transcription appears in the input field, giving you a chance to correct any misheard words.
Your browser will ask for microphone access the first time you use voice input. You must grant this permission for recording to work. If you previously denied access, update the permission in your browser's site settings.
Availability
Voice input is available on all plans, including the free tier. The per-minute cost is deducted from your credits balance. It works in all modern browsers that support the MediaRecorder API (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge).
