SimPilot supports multiple providers and model families. You can select models in-chat and maintain conversation continuity while switching.
Why model choice matters
Different models optimize for different outcomes:
- Reasoning depth for complex diagnosis and planning
- Speed/cost for quick iterations
- Multimodal support for image/PDF workflows
- Tool-use reliability for execution-heavy tasks
Capabilities tracked per model
In model settings, models are tagged by capabilities such as:
- Reasoning support
- Tool calling
- Image input
- PDF input
These tags help you pick models that match the workflow you need.
Task defaults
SimPilot maintains internal defaults for key tasks, including:
- Primary chat
- Title generation
- PDF processing
- Deep research
- Image generation
- Document editing actions
Plan and workspace controls
Model availability can vary by plan tier and deployment configuration. If a model is not visible in your selector, check your plan permissions and workspace config.
Start with a fast general model for setup, then switch to a stronger reasoning model when diagnosing failures or evaluating tradeoffs.
